Global Recycling Day 2025

To mark this year’s Global Recycling Day on the 18th of March Singletons are again asking our loyal customers to become #RecyclingHeroes by bringing their scrap metal for inspection. You could even earn money for the metal you bring in while doing your bit for the environment – win-win!

What is Global Recycling Day?

Global Recycling Day happens on the 18th of March each year and was set up by the Global Recycling foundation – their mission is to make world leaders aware of the importance of recycling and that a united, worldwide approach to recycling is urgently needed. Their aim is to question world leaders and people across the globe to make them think about the amount of waste they produce and how recycled items can support a sustainable future.

How you can do more to support sustainability

We all need to hold ourselves and our households accountable for our own recycling efforts and recognise where there is room to do more – like taking all your recyclable metals and scrap to Singletons! Here are some questions you can ask yourself to ensure you, and your community, recycle as responsibly as possible.

  1. Do I dispose of everything I have used, from food packaging and plastic bottles to white goods and cars, so that it can be recycled?
  2. Do I know my local area’s recycling policy and do I follow it correctly?
  3. Do I know what happens to my household waste once it is taken by refuse collectors?
  4. Do I repair and reuse items as much as possible and influence my friends to do the same?
  5. Am I committed to reducing the amount of waste I produce?
  6. Do I make informed purchases and chose brands that are sustainable?
  7. Am I aware of the government’s recycling legislation and could they be doing more?

If you are doing everything you can to make sure you and your household are recycling as much as you can, then you are our #RecyclingHero!

Metal is one of the only fully recyclable materials and here at Singletons we pride ourselves on being as sustainable as possible, and so should you. If you’d like to find out more about what you can and can’t bring to the scrap yard, you can contact us or pop down with your scrap – we’re always happy to help!
